Giovanni Sgariboldi: The Vision Behind Euroitalia’s Success

Founded in 1978 in Cavenago Brianza by Giovanni Sgariboldi, Euroitalia Srl started as a small company specializing in licensed fragrance brands. Today, it is a global leader in the creation and distribution of perfumes, fragrances, and cosmetics, operating in 157 countries with 95% of its revenue coming from exports.

Born in 1943 in Caselle Landi (LO), Giovanni Sgariboldi is the CEO of Euroitalia, the company he established with the ambition of introducing Italian perfumery to the global market, at a time when the industry was largely dominated by French brands.

His professional journey began at just 15 years old, working as a salesclerk in a stationery store. He later transitioned into the pharmaceutical industry, before advancing to a leadership role in a cosmetics company, where he became Sales Manager. Drawing on his extensive experience, he launched Euroitalia in 1978, overseeing every aspect of fragrance development—from scent creation to marketing strategy. The company’s first brand was Reporter, which set the foundation for a fully integrated production and commercialization process.

With a visionary approach, Sgariboldi invested heavily in research and development, carefully selecting premium raw materials. These strategic choices paved the way for Euroitalia’s first licensing agreements, securing partnerships with brands such as Enrico Coveri, Naj Oleari, and El Charro.

In the late 1980s, Euroitalia began collaborating with Moschino, launching the Cheap & Chic fragrance, which became an iconic product exhibited at the MoMA in New York and marked the company’s debut in international markets. Euroitalia’s global recognition was further solidified in 1992 through a licensing agreement with Dolce&Gabbana. Throughout a 13-year partnership, Sgariboldi led the creation of Dolce & Gabbana Parfum and Light Blue, fragrances that remain among the world's best-selling perfumes.

In 2005, under Sgariboldi’s leadership, Euroitalia became the exclusive licensee for Versace fragrances, redefining the brand’s positioning in the luxury perfumery sector with the launch of highly successful fragrance lines. At the same time, the company expanded its global footprint by establishing EuroItalia USA and, more recently, EuroItalia Suisse.
Every fragrance developed by Euroitalia is the result of a meticulous research process, personally overseen by Sgariboldi in collaboration with top perfumers, a process that can take up to two years. Today, the company’s license portfolio includes its own brands—Reporter, Naj Oleari, Atkinsons, and I Coloniali—as well as prestigious licensed brands, such as Versace, Moschino, Missoni, Dsquared2, Michael Kors, and Brunello Cucinelli.

Euroitalia has also embraced sustainability, developing biodegradable fragrances made with natural ingredients and high-tech molecules, eliminating harmful substances while reducing environmental impact. The company operates from a 27,000-square-meter facility in Cavenago Brianza, where the entire production chain is proudly Made in Italy, highlighting Italian craftsmanship, quality, and creativity.

In 2024, Giovanni Sgariboldi was awarded the Cavaliere del Lavoro, while in 2021, he received the Certificate of Excellence from the University of Ferrara, an honor given to outstanding entrepreneurs in the cosmetic industry. Today, Euroitalia continues to grow under the leadership of Sgariboldi and his three sons, Davide, Matteo, and Andrea, who actively contribute to the company’s success.
