Safety, environmental sustainability, and support for local production continue to gain prominence in the cosmetics industry. Those are the highlights that emerge from the Cosmotrends report, which was recently released as part of Cosmoprof Asia Digital Week, a digital event specifically developed for operators and companies interested in the business opportunities offered by the key Asia-Pacific markets.
The report – prepared by the international agency Beautystreams as part of its cooperation with the Cosmoprof international network – highlights changes in consumer habits starting with the most recent products launched by the brands that participated in the Digital Week. The worst of the emergency seems over, and the main markets are gradually discovering the new normal. Countries in the Asia-Pacific region will certainly drive evolving trends over the coming months. With a population of almost 3 billion people, the region offers strategic opportunities for growth for the key players in the sector.
As the Cosmotrends report clearly shows, the Covid-19 pandemic accelerated changes that were already underway. Manufacturers in China, Japan and Korea, the area's economic giants, are focusing research and investments on products that are safe for the skin and offer a high level of performance. They are exploiting the potential offered by local and traditional ingredients, adopting manufacturing processes that have a reduced environmental impact, and pairing the intrinsic properties of raw materials with the most innovative technology and devices.
